Description

Many trial deployments will want/need additional software loaded that we may not want in the base image. Examples of this are flash, java, and lots of applications.

From talking to J5, we should be able to easily rebuild the image on the flash key, after having made local customizations.

We need to document this customization process on a wiki page and ensure it is really correct, and train the technical liaisons helping with the trials at doing this process.

Lots of folks can do this work besides J5.

I'm assigning this to cjb for the moment.

Once he's done it and documented it, we'll get an additional set of people to try it out to check the directions.

Here's a first stab at this:

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Customizing_NAND_images

I think this is appropriate for anyone at OLPC, but may well be too complicated for country liaisons; I'd be happier if we had a simple command in Open Firmware that read from the NAND to a USB disk. "dump-nand" is such a command, but it's not producing images correctly at the moment.
