Description

Adding or removing a manufacturing tag occasionally fails with EDI byte in timeout. On 12th December, John suggested this was because the EDI interface is attempting to force more waiting than normal.

Change History

  • next_action changed from design to test in build

A test firmware image http://dev.laptop.org/~quozl/q4c11jd.rom fixes the symptom for me on six units, over four tag change attempts, by increasing the loop counter from 10 to 100. svn 2797.

The change has certainly lowered the frequency of the problem, but it still occurs.

  • next_action changed from design to test in build

Increased loop counter to 10000 and forced a failure to verify it does not cause an undue delay. In svn 2803.

EDI byte in timeout may also occur if the EDI interface is not active at the time a command is sent. Changing a tag bypasses a retry in activating the EDI interface, so a solution will involve a retry.

Fixed in Q4C12.
