Description

  1. Open the epub file mentioned in #11614.
  2. Go to the Prologue page.
  3. In the Speech submenu, press the play button.

On an XO-1.5 with Read 92, you will hear the chapter spoken aloud.

On an XO-1.75 with Read 92.1, you will not hear the chapter spoken aloud.

Seen/heard in 11.3.1 os28.

Change History

Read 92 on an XO-1.75 does not have this problem, so the enhancements in 92.1 may have caused the issue.

Ah, this missed the boat for os29, make sure you set it to "add to build"!

Just to be clear. I have disabled text to speech in epub files, because the performance cost of processing the page in big chapters, do it unusable the scroll of documents (as is implemented today).

In the future, I will implement this in a thread, but we can't do this change in 11.3.1

Text to speech works in 11.3.1 os32 in Read only when opening text files. Text to speech intentionally does not work for PDF or EPUB files in this build. This should be documented.

There is a slight issue with TTS and text files in that once a text file is played, it seems to be impossible to reset the speech pointer to replay the text file. Attempting to press play again results in only the last word being repeated.
