#12058 closed defect (fixed) needs disk space for F18

Reported by: dsd Owned by: cjb
Priority: normal Milestone: 13.1.0
Component: infrastructure Version: not specified
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Deployments affected: Action Needed: never set
Verified: no

For when we freeze packages for 13.1.0 (currently scheduled for November 8th) we will need to mirror F18 on For F17 this required 124GB (arm + x86 + SRPMS).

There is currently only 58GB free.

59GB could be freed up if we decide we can archive these old repos elsewhere:

3.8G	local.update1/
104K	local.ship2/
8.5G	local.8.2
447M	local.8.2.1
2.6G	koji.dist-olpc2
44G	koji.dist-olpc3-testing
108K	koji.dist-olpc3-updates
104K	koji.olpc2-ship2
108K	koji.olpc2-update1
59G	total

Still probably not enough. We could also move F11 to archives to free another 175GB:

9.0G	local.10.1
35M	local.10.1.1
815M	local.10.1.1-xo1.5
30M	local.10.1.2
510M	local.10.1.2-xo1
366M	local.10.1.2-xo1.5
154M	local.10.1.3
73M	local.10.1.3-xo1
77M	local.10.1.3-xo1.5
108K	local.10.1-xo1.5
66G	koji.dist-f11
67G	koji.dist-f11-updates
33G	koji.dist-f11-updates-10.1.1
104K	koji.dist-f11-updates-10.1.2
175G	total

Alternatively, a disk capacity upgrade would keep us going for another couple of years. (it currently uses 2 300GB disks in a RAID0 to provide about 550GB usable space).

We could abandon the mock hardware, and move over to weka, which is currently unused and has a quad-core CPU/8GB RAM/4TB disk, vs. mock's single-core/1GB RAM/550GB disk.

weka uses RAID5, though, which is slower. Dan, I've given you sudo -- want to do a quick speed test to assess suitability? It's also running Ubuntu instead of Fedora.

weka died on first login - Chris will investigate when he has time.

Thanks for this, the new machine "fusion" seems to be working well. I have copied over all the repos and set it up, documented at

We now need to return this to the media lab preferably before November 15th, and (if needed) update DNS to point at the new system.

Okay, Ed and I have scheduled this Thursday 8th for the move back to the ML.

It sounds like the "fusion" naming was a mistake, if it's directly taking over from mock -- feel free to set it to call itself mock, and I'll just power down the old mock and give this machine its IP address instead, if that's the plan. Do you have all the SSL/SSH host keys migrated over already?

The name needs to keep working for existing olpc-os-builder releases/users. With that in mind I agree that it makes sense to make this new machine just take over the old mock name and IP. I've adjusted the hostname and copied over the ssh keys accordingly.

I've left the old mock running at the moment just in case deployments are using it this week. Please power it down just before you do the swap - or ask me on IRC and I'll do it.

Okay, all sounds good. I'll power it down before the swap.

Would doing the move on Thu 15th be too late? There's going to be a big storm here tomorrow, trying to work out when to reschedule for.

comment:9 Changed 4 years ago by cjb

Looks like we'll try on Tue 13th morning.

Thanks a lot, the move was done today and things seem to be working fine. is updated, and the Machine:fusion page deleted, just to prevent future confusion.
