  • component changed from not assigned to gnome-desktop
  • summary changed from [CL4] Choose suspend mode in X-Windows, system will hang up. to GNOME suspend doesn't power down screen
  • On XO-1.75 in 12.1.0, suspending from GNOME causes the screen to turn off. The system can be woken with mouse, keyboard, or the power button.
  • On XO-1.75 in 13.1.0 build 26, suspending from GNOME works but the screen is still on (this is confusing). The system can be woken with mouse, keyboard, or the power button.
  • On XO-4 in 13.1.0 build 26, suspending from GNOME works but the screen is still on (this is confusing). The system can be woken with the power button, but not with the mouse/keyboard.

So, the fact that the screen doesn't get turned off is a regression. Need to triage this to see if it is a release blocker. It was previously turned off by a upower hook that we put in place.

The wakeup method inconsistency is a smaller issue IMO - I think we shouldn't bother ourselves with it at this time. I also happen to think that having only the power button as the wakeup source in this situation is the best thing for the user.

  • next_action changed from never set to add to build

Fixed in olpc-utils-4.0.4. GNOME now uses systemd to suspend, so we had to add a hook like we did for pm-utils.

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to fixed

Suspend in GNOME powers down the screen in 13.2.0 build 8, tested on XO-4.
