#12676 new defect

Spanish HS Keyboard broken in Linux VT

Reported by: wad Owned by: pgf

Description

We have fixed the Spanish HS (mechanical) keyboard issues in X and OFW at this point (see #12645), but the mappings from the Linux VT are still unusable. In particular, it is very hard to find a tilde or asterisk which makes Linux hard to use.

The priority isn't real high, as Linux works fine from the terminal, which uses the corrected X windows mappings.

  • Priority changed from normal to low

Work-arounds:

  • \ is available as ALT-GR 7
  • + is available on ] (5th from right in lower row)
  • * is available as } (shifted 5th from right in lower row)
  • [ is available as + (rightmost key in third row)
  • { is available as * (shifted rightmost key in third row)
  • ] is available as < (3rd from left in lower row)
  • } is available as > (shifted 3rd from left in lower row)

I can't find a workaround for typing < or > ! In the Spanish membrane keyboard they are on a keycode which isn't generated by the Spanish mechanical keyboard.

The best work-around is work from either the Sugar Terminal or the Gnome Terminal application. They correctly map the keyboard!
