Flashing upon selection in Write activity

It seems that the screen flashes to white a lot while editing, particularly when selecting/deselecting text. This flashing makes it difficult to keep track of the text, and should be minimized if possible.

This is particularly annoying when making selections, because with each flash it seems to reset the insertion point of any new selections being made to the current cursor location as the redraw passes the cursor.
