The user should probably be allowed to change the screen's brightness on the firstboot screen.

  • Component changed from sugar to distro
  • Milestone changed from Trial-2 to Opportunity
  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

The infrastructure is not running at that point to make this easy.
(X and sugar aren't running yet). We'd have to do another, different temporary mechanism.

  • Resolution fixed deleted
  • Status changed from closed to reopened

Zack what do you mean with firstboot exactly? The screen where you can enter your name or something before that?

Reopening since it's not really fixed anyway.

I mean the screen where you enter your name and pick your color, yeah.

Without commenting directly on the firstboot screen, I'd like to also point out that in later boots (while the XO logo's arms are circling around its head), pressing the brightness keys not only don't change the brightness, but display a lot of "[[20~"-type escape codes across the top of the screen. This is at least unaesthetic, probably also a defect since wanting to turn down the brightness right away (to save battery) is something a lot of people will tend to try.
