"Unmount" option in Journal should appear elsewhere

Description

OFW: Q2C18 Build: 530

When I mouse over a storage device's icon in Journal, the context menu appears such that the "Unmount" option is right in the center of the icon. This makes it such that the user will *extremely* frequently mouse over the icon and try to click it to view its contents, only to end up unmounting it because the context menu popped up right as they clicked. It needs to be moved.

Might accept a one-three line class change here for a day or two more.

Eben, where should it go?

The device icons are sitting in a tray, and as such should follow the behavior for "anchored palettes." That is, rather than appearing with a corner at the position of the mouse, their rollovers should appear above the tray, connected to them just as in the design for activities in the lower edge of the frame. Moreover, the primary rollover should provide the name of the device -- "Eben's flash drive" -- as text. The secondary rollover should have capacity info and a list of possible actions, with "eject" among them. Clicking the icon itself at any time, regardless of rollover state, should select the device and nothing else.

As a side note, the specification for "floating palettes", such as those in the mesh, is that regardless of placement the actual cursor position should never overlap the palette. An immediate click after a palette appears (before the cursor has moved) should dismiss the palette again, not select an option from it. I'll open another ticket for that.

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to fixed

This was fixed by some commit by Marco or Eduardo regarding palettes. It didn't had anything to do with the Journal.

Opened ticket #2652 regarding the new features needed in the palettes of storage devices.
