Description

If a WiFi AP is configured not to broadcast the network SSID, Sugar won't connect to it at boot, even if the network was already registered into /home/olp/.sugar/default/nm/networks.cfg.

At least http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Wifi_Connectivity#SSID_Network_Name describes how-to for such configuration, and it worked for me (note that key parameter for iwconfig will is missing in the procedure on Wiki but it will be needed in typical settings)

Yes, you can connect manually to an hidden WiFi network, but my point was about connecting automatically. I naively thought that if I make my network visible, Sugar would register its parameters and would use it as the preferred network for subsequent boots. But that's not the case.

Moreover, if the XO is connected to the visible network, and then I disable SSID broadcast during that Sugar session, it loses the link and tries to register to another visible neighbor network.

#6237 is a duplicate of this, but it already contains some proposals of a solution, so I suggest we move on to it.
