This may be really a library bug. I'll leave it to scott to sort out.

No, this content actually comes from the server. I requested but have not yet received a translation for this content. Jim, please reassign to a member of the translation team, and have them assign back to me once translations are in hand.

Again, no updates to XO client software are necessary; this content is fetched from the activation server.

Note they are specifically referring to a path in /home.

I think they are referring to the link in the library that gets you to the server (which may also have problems....)

If /home/.devkey.html needs to be translated - I can figure out a method to do it. Which package provides this particular file ?

If you need content from the server to be translated - I would need to have the HTML files which need translations.

Replying to sayamindu:

If /home/.devkey.html needs to be translated - I can figure out a method to do it. Which package provides this particular file ?

It's custom built by scripts at runtime, because it needs to have the XO's serial number and UUID plugged into it. It's created in /etc/init.d/olpc-configure. That appears to be in RPM package "olpc-utils". The English version is literally embedded into the olpc-configure shell script. If you attach a translated version of /home/.devkey.html to this bug report, I'm sure that the team can get it into the right place in the release.

Pages on the key server that need translation are, similarly, the pages which /home/.devkey.html links you to. Go through the process of getting a developer key for an XO yourself -- and translate each page you see in that process. They're all simple pages. Then attach here; one of the security gurus can put them onto the proper server.

To confirm:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
        "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head>
<title>Developer key request</title>
<style type="text/css" media="all">@import "https://activation.laptop.org/devkey/stylesheet/";</style>
</head>
<body>
<iframe src="https://activation.laptop.org/devkey/content/"
        width="100%" height="450" >
<p>Use the button below to request a developer key for your
        machine.</p>
</iframe>
<form action="https://activation.laptop.org/devkey/post/"
        method="post" id="devkeyform" >
<input type="hidden" name="serialnum" value="REPLACE_WITH_SERIALNUMBER" />
<input type="hidden" name="uuid" value="REPLACE_WITH_UUID" />
<input type="submit" />
</form>
</body>
</html>

needs to be translated. I also see an "iframe", but I guess since we are already translating Activation Server, we need not worry about that.
Am I right ?

Thanks!

We ideally need some better way to do this for all languages. Any ideas ? I don't think pushing raw HTML strings to developers is a very good idea. Michael - how did you integrate the Spanish translations into the build ?
