#6447 new defect

olpc-update-query should transmit "blackbox" logging information.

olpc-update-query should have a post-query hook which runs a collection of scripts and sends back a fixed amount of data provided by each on stdout. This would get shoved into the database for analysis by interested parties (Richard for battery data, Chris for power savings, etc).

  • Blocking 5457 removed

(In #5457) From discussion, my more recent recommendation is not syslog, but a in-memory ring buffer. If persistence across reboots is required, then saving/loading the ring buffer to/from disk can be done in an init script. The helper script would send OHM a dbus message (say) to get it to give it the current contents of its ringbuffer.
