Description

While testing mesh network at 1CC, we observed sometimes a Chat instance still receive messages from other XO's but its own message aren't received by the same XO's.

Attached Salut log and tcpdump of the working and bugged side. First the bugged XO sended a message which wasn't displayed on the other side. Then the working XO sended a message which was properly received.

These laptops were using the mesh network with the following tweaks:

iwpriv msh0 mesh_set_ttl 1
iwpriv msh0 mesh_set_bcastr 22

Just reproduced it with 4 XO's.
3 XO's displayed "X12 left the chat" "X12 joined the chat" and now X12 can't send anymore but still receive messages.

After doing some more tests, it appears this bug occurs quite often. Just have to connect 4 XO's or more using Chat and after ~ 10 minutes, one of them will leave/join the muc (from the other XO's point of view, the disconnected one doesn't display anything) and its messages won't be received anymore.

  • Priority changed from normal to high

This seems like a pretty nasty bug. Let's make it a priority.

  • Milestone changed from Never Assigned to Update.1

We discussed whether this is something we should fix for Update 1 in the software meeting today. We'd definitely like to know more about the problem as soon as possible. It may get pushed back to Update 1.1 unless it's something we have a fix for soon. Setting milestone accordingly.

This is in Update.1-701. Please test, close and mark as verified if it's fixed.

Someone having access to 3 or 4 XO's could check that please? Test is simple: just connect the XO's to the same mesh channel, launch chat and wait one or 2 hours. Then check if all the chat instances can still talk to each others.

Just tested again after an hour and I could send messages between 3 machines running 703 and sharing using Salut. I will have a look again after another hour before closing.
