Description

Need from NYC deployment:

When scanning for a wireless connection, an AP with a school server behind it needs to be treated the same as a mesh with a school server, disabling the mesh when it connects.

What is requested? That salut is shut down or that the mesh is shut down?

If it is the first (salut), then this is the same of #6299 (which btw, although closed is still an issue - check #6882 and #6886).

If it is the second (mesh), then this is the mesh stop/start feature which is reported to be fixed in firmware version 22p9 (but not tested).

It is not clear to me why this ticket's title and summary speaks of scanning and I am basing my comment on the second part of the sentence ("disabling the mesh when it connects"). So, there is a chance I completely misunderstood it.

Thanks for paying attention to the ticket!

The intent of this ticket was just to ensure that schools using Wifi present the same user experience as school using mesh. This means not going into simple mesh mode simply because a student didn't click on the school AP in their neighborhood view.

I don't believe that leaving the mesh repeating active while connected to an AP will cause problems. Comments ?

1.) As long as it doesn't repeat broadcasts bleeding over from other channels due to close packing, low cost receive filters, and no channel based filtering...
