Description

When a laptop is using WiFi to connect to the school server, it sometimes cannot establish a gabble connection with the presence service, and instead starts up salut.

This is a similar problem to ticket #5908, but in that ticket a mesh network is used to connect to the school server.

Logs and packet traces of this situation are available at: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Collab_Network_School_Wifi_Tests#Test_0410A

Ok, we have at least 2 problems here.

We have from this log http://xs-dev.laptop.org/mesh/test0410/t0410A/X72/sugar/telepathy-gabble.log

Going to connect to schoolserver.annex.xs.laptop.org
** (telepathy-gabble:1655): DEBUG: do_connect: lm_connection_open failed The nameserver failed to return an address, try again later

which indicates a DNS / network issue. So not related to Telepathy/presence-service.

And we have from this log http://xs-dev.laptop.org/mesh/test0410/t0410A/X63/sugar/telepathy-gabble.log

** (telepathy-gabble:1647): DEBUG: connection_disconnected_cb: called with reason 3

and whic is called for a not logged reason (the SSL errors shouldn't be a problem as we set the ignore-ssl-errors parameter)

The second issue could be a network issue too (the TCP connection was propably dropped).

  • owner changed from Collabora to dwmw2
  • component changed from presence-service to wireless

I'm pretty sure this is a network or server bug. Reassigning to wireless so see what network experts think.
