Description

I olpc-update'd from 656 to Update1 candidate-703, and held down X to upgrade the firmware to q2d14 at the same time. After that, my Linksys USB200M USB-ethernet adaptor [Asix driver] no longer gave me a connection.

The device still shows up in ifconfig as 'eth1' when inserted, but it never gets an IP address like it should. The one exception was when it made up a pair of IPv4/v6 link-local addresses for itself.

Holding the 'O' button and booting back into the 656 image lets me use the adaptor perfectly.

You might try changing the contents of /etc/udev/rules.d/10-olpc-netif.rules to

SUBSYSTEM=="net", KERNEL=="msh*", OPTIONS="last_rule"

(Alternately, if you prefer packages rather than manual hacks, try installing  http://koji.fedoraproject.org/packages/olpc-utils/0.71/1.olpc2/i386/olpc-utils-0.71-1.olpc2.i386.rpm)

Thanks; upgrading olpc-utils fixed it. I'm guessing this was related to bug #5746. Will 0.71 get into the final Update.1? I'll add this bug to the release notes for now, anyway.

Dup of #5746. Expected to be fixed in the 8.1.1 bugfix release (see  http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_SW-ECO_5).
