We will want new graphics on the buttons going forward. The same check mark as we use on the Enter Key should be on the Circle Button. The same x we use on the Esc Key should be on the X Button. The Square Button needs to somehow indicate Alt and the Triangle Button will be used for a tab-like function to jump between options, hot-spots, etc.

Using the 'check' and 'x' for the accept and cancel buttons seems to make sense, though could be a little confusing in instances, such as games, where the buttons aren't actually used to mean that, but instead mean "fire" or "jump." Most game systems use a similar idea, even though the buttons are merely labeled 'A' and 'B' or 'O' and 'X'. Still, perhaps it's better to enforce a stronger association with the accept and cancel operations. I'm not sure.

As for the other two buttons, I think that we should use some form of completely generic icons here. Even if they map to alt and tab by default, these functions are much less likely to be used than the more general ideas of accept and cancel. As such, we probably want basic shapes without any cultural significance. I see the best options for shapes being circle, triangle, and square, though there is also the possibility of using a diamond. (If we use the diamond, it would have to be in addition to the circle, since it is not as visually distinct from the other shapes.)

I propose circle and square as the two most basic shapes to use, and the most visually distinct. If we use the accept and cancel buttons, the positioning of these two shapes will not interfere with the controls of the well established Playstation controller, which is good. I'll leave this open to discussion for now, but once I get a chance I'll attach some SVGs.
