Description

Something since update1 has caused the camera performance to regress - there is a visual delay, and gstreamer-recorded videos have lip sync problems. Need to measure and investigate.

Probably need a reference and real measurements before I'd make this a blocker. Good one for further investigation.

Hi Guys,

I think this is a blocker. Record is our most popular activity and if lip-synch is off its unusable.

Thanks,

Greg S

Maybe this got fixed when we fixed TamTam's audio performance?

Please retest and retriage.

bug is still there, it's noticably more delayed than update1. I'm pretty sure its a gstreamer thing. what kind of retriaging is needed?

comment:7 Changed 6 years ago by dsd

I can fix this quickly if we're OK with going back to an old gstreamer:

fixed by reverting gstreamer, need to add to 8.2

  • Owner changed from dsd to ApprovalForUpdate

Please include the following packages in 8.2:

  • gstreamer-0.10.12-3.olpc3
  • gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.12-4.olpc3.4
  • gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.5-7.olpc3.1
  • gstreamer-python-0.10.7-2.olpc3.1
  • gstreamer-tools-0.10.12-3.olpc3
  • totem-gstreamer-2.23.4-1.olpc3.6
  • totem-2.23.4-1.olpc3.6
  • totem-mozplugin-2.23.4-1.olpc3.6

Fixes this bug, #7452, #7887 and #8075. I trimmed gstreamer deps a bit, and some of these old packages have fewer dependencies, so this will also cause the following packages to go away: wavpack, libsoup, libvisual, rarian, rarian-compat

|TestCase|

Run an 8.2 build on an XO, next to another XO running an update1 build. Run Record on both. Wave your hand and confirm that 8.2 does not appear any more lagged than update1.

Added to the stable build stream; will be in 758.

Careful about closing this bug, though; we'll need to fix these problems "for real" in 9.1.

This is working in 759, created #8322 for the real fix
