Installation of Browse and Log Viewer activities never ends (though they get installed)

Joyride 2200.

While installing activities using the button "Software updates" in the Control Panel, Browse and Log Viewer activities are installed, but still appear as activities that can be installed. It goes forever...

Additional info: instead of the firmware Q2E11 that came with the Joyride 2200, the leftover firmware Q2D16 was still there.

After rebooting the laptop, the right firmware (Q2E11) apppeared to be installed. After downloading activities, only a Log Viewer activity was in the "never ending installation" state. The similar behavior was observed with another laptop, though in that case firmware was re-flashed properly the first time.

Couldn't generate the log: the command olpc-netlog is absent.

I found a workaround while testing 2230 today.

To get software update to install activities that it doesn't think are being installed (such as Browse, as was the victim in my particular case): * Delete the offending activity (hover over it in the Home view and click on Erase) * Re-run Software Update.

That should work fine until we have a real fix in place.

The Log Viewer activity isn't running in joyride 2230.

Charlie's workaround worked for me on build 2230 for Browse, but not for Log. The old Log version didn't erase cleanly, it remained on the Home view. And the new Log version 11 never successfully installed.
