#7844 new defect

Icons for security and contribution.

Reported by: mstone Owned by: walter

I recently through together a description of how to help out in security: but I find that it doesn't 'pop' the way that my page does.

Could I get some nice icons for representing the names "Bitfrost", "Rainbow", and ways of contributing: "code", "design", "test", "organize", and "evangelize"?

Nikki pinged me if I could give these icons a shot. Eben, are you busy and willing to pass these to me? I already have some initial sketches on paper, and will think and work more on them in the following days, put them on the wiki and announce it back here.

Please post your designs; I merely CC'ed Eben because I thought he'd be interested!

I'm going on holidays, plus I don't have a scanner handy to publish the sketches. What I can do is describe and explain them, so if in the meantime anyone wants to improve on the ideas or even make them true, go ahead:

Code: double helix DNA in a blueprint;
Design: some kind of aparatus which is known for its clever design in the paste(inwards of combustion engine? Or something more alchemic, more steampunk, like a water heater creating steam?);
Test: half-bitten apple, as if one is giving another one his product for the other to try out (this one is fuzzy, I know);
organize: one of those mouth pieces which increase the sound of what the speaker says, but the old traditional one, no batteries needed :);
evangelize: Hat with a card. In those Noir movies, reporters had a little reporter card on their hat, except this hat would spell something different (or have some illustration).

Anyway, like I said, i'm off to rest and pleasure:) But I think it might be usefull to spill out what I've got, so others can use or not. When I came back I'll come back to this challenge.

My thoughts:

  • Code: I like the double-helix blueprint idea
  • Design: French curve, triangle, and/or protractor
  • Test: scale or balance
  • Organize: The bullhorn/megaphone idea is nice
  • Evangelize: I like the hat/card idea; or perhaps a briefcase ("salesman")?
