distance activity hangs on 3rd person join

if 2 laptops are involved in a distance mmeasurement activity, and a 3rd laptop tries to join, that 3rd laptop's distance app hangs, lives on seeming forever, in the list of app icons at the top, and the stop doesn't make it go away. continued running 20 minutes, despite attempting many stops.

Is this yours? I think was a complaint of the teacher in Peru if you remember the inconvenientes thread from several months ago...

Would be great to solve if we want to show responsiveness to users (helps get more feedback) but not a blocker.

That's not how I interpreted that complaint. I thought the teacher meant that they were trying to operate in 6 groups of 2. I attributed it to network congestion failure.

As for this bug, I just tried it on 8.2-761, and I did not observe a crash. Instead, I observed exactly the desired behavior, in which the third person is shown a message, "This Activity already has two participants, so you cannot join.", and the original two can continue to measure stuff as if nothing happened.

The logfiles above contain no evidence of hangs, so I am at a loss. I don't know what to do about bugs I can't reproduce or diagnose.
