#8168 new defect

cloaked WPA network appears, then disappears after connection attempt

Reported by: sj Owned by: dcbw
Priority: low Milestone: 9.1.0-cancelled
Component: network manager Version: not specified
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Deployments affected: Action Needed: never set
Verified: no

Description

  1. Near my uncle's home network, which has a cloaked access point.

<neigbhorhood> : I can't see the network.

bash# iwconfig eth0 essid NETNAME

<neigbhorhood> : I can see the network. It shows a lock, requires a password.

[click]
[enter password]

The network immediately disappears from network manager.
I am not able to connect.

If I repeat the above iwconfig step, the network reappears, this time without a lock, though it still requires a password (and I have not successfully connected to it).

  • Milestone changed from Not Triaged to 9.1.0
  • Priority changed from normal to low

Not blocking for 8.2; not sure if we care about cloaked APs. low priority.
