Description

Please run setup-smbios in the Linux boot path like what happens for windows. Linux detects the DMI, and HAL picks up on it too, making the juicy information available. This solves us a headache in #9348.

Fixed by svn 1260. The fix will appear in Q2E42, but there is no expectation that a Q2E42 will be created or released to production anytime soon.

Firmware q2f01 (http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Firmware_q2f01) fixes this problem?

The q2f series was an experimental branch that is not supported. We have removed references to the F series from the Firmware page.

Is there a test case for this?

I've run dmidecode on several XO-1 configurations and it reports "no SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found" ... tried adding setup-smbios to olpc.fth on several units, no change. Is kernel support required?
